Design Professionals

The Design Professionals unit within the State Building Office consists of the Board of Examination and Registration of Architects, Board of Examination and Registration of Landscape Architects, Board of Registration for Professional Land Surveyors, and the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. Each board is charged with maintaining high professional standards for persons and/or firms who wish to practice architecture, landscape architecture, land surveying and professional engineering in the State of Rhode Island. The boards were established to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public, and do so by ensuring that individuals meet the education, examination, and experience standards for registration. Disciplinary action is taken against those who violate the statutes, rules and standards governing the practice of these professions.
