Reciprocity Application Fee: $60

Renewal Fee: $120 for two-year registration (expires on December 31st of the ODD numbered years.

Certificate of Authorization (COA) for (Firms):

Initial Application Fee: $0

Renewal Fee: $0 (If no employees, to include all people in the firm)

Renewal Fee: $120 (if there are employees to include all people in the firm)

NCARB Record Required for Applicants

After completing your online application, you must contact NCARB and request transmission of your NCARB Record to the Rhode Island Architect Board.

Please ensure that your NCARB Record is accurate and up to date.

NOTICE - An Individual Architect Registration is not enough!

All Firms (Entities) are required to obtain a Certificate of Authorization (COA)

Important Reminder to Registered Architects — Each Firm (entity) that practices or offers to practice architecture in Rhode Island must hold a current COA. This required COA is in addition to the individual's registration. Check to make sure that your firm (whether sole proprietorship, corporation, partnership, LLP or LLC) has a current COA.

Amend an Architect COA

All changes are to be reported within 30 days.
To report changes in responsible control., changes in business structure or a Name Change, you must complete and submit, via email only, the Paper Certificate of Authorization (COA) Amended Application.
Please note changes (in the body of the email is acceptable) in the format as follows:
LIST ALL CHANGES AS FOLLOWS:
CHANGE IN RESPONSIBLE CONTROL:  REMOVED:  Name (RI Architect Registration Number)
                                                                        ADDED:  Name (RI Architect Registration Number)
CHANGE IN BUSINESS STRUCTURE:  REMOVED:  Name / POSITION / TITLE IN FIRM / PROFESSION 
                                                                     ADDED: Name / POSITION / TITLE IN FIRM / PROFESSION
NAME CHANGE FROM:   Current Name
                                  TO:   New Name (Exactly how it appears on letterhead, title block of plans, etc.)
